A patient’s own fat cells are used as they run less risk of rejection. The patient’s overall result will depend on what the patient requires but the circumference is usually increased by between 30 – 50%. Enlargement will occur in both the flaccid and erect state.
Another technique is simply to graft fat cut away from the buttocks or abdomen onto the penile shaft. Some practitioners use tissue from cadavers. While this may increase penis girth, the body can reabsorb the fat over time and cause an irregular contour to the penis.
As with all forms of fat transfer there is a risk that the body will reject the fat and reabsorb it. Some re-absorption takes place in all transfers and surgeons will usually inject extra fat to compensate for this.
There is some controversy surrounding penis enlargement surgery. Many within the medical community consider these types of surgeries to be experimental and are concerned there aren't enough studies of penis augmentation surgery to give an accurate picture of results and risks of complications. They recommend considering other options before resort to penis enlargement surgeries.
