Istituto Clinico Humanitas (Humanitas Mirasole S.P.A.) is a facility known in Italy as an IRCCS (a Scientific Institute of Admission and Care) that has been recognized by the Ministry of Health and Lombardy?s Regional Government as a centre of excellence in terms of quality of its health care services and its ability to translate the results of research and innovation into everyday clinical practice.

Humanitas is also a teaching centre for the University of Milan?s degree in Medicine and Surgery, Nursing and Biotechnologies.

Humanitas is a hospital with a strong vocation towards a multispecialty integrated approach and highly specialised surgery. From cardiosurgery to orthopaedics, from surgical oncology to neurosurgery.
Humanitas offers the most advanced standards on an international level. The 22 operating theatres are incorporated into 5 blocks, situated on the ground and the 2nd floor, adjacent to the ICU and have been created with the most advanced systems. The surgical process has been created to ensure perfect working conditions and in particular to guarantee absolute sterility of the ambient.

A central element of our organizational formula is the Surgical Day Hospital. Inserted in the surgery complex on the 2nd floor of the building. It deals with all low invasive operations, done under local or loco-regional anaesthetic, with particular reference to opthalmology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, plastic surgery, vascular surgery and general surgery. The areas reserved to Haemodynamics and Interventional Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Electrostimulation and Interventional Radiology are adjacent to the cardiosurgery block.

International Patients:

The Istituto Clinico Humanitas in collaboration with the Fondazione Humanitas has activated an interpreter service for those patients who may require it. This service is offered by volunteers of the Fondazione who have gained experience working in schools or public offices. These volunteers are foreign citizens living in Italy and who speak very good Italian as well as their own mother tongue: Albanian, Croatian, Serbian, Bosnian, Russian, Philippine, Arabian, English, French, German, Spanish and Dutch, Bulgarian, Hungarian and Norwegian.
